D'oh! Funny story.

On the way home from the supermarket at the weekend I got a puncture on one of my rear tyres. To be honest they were both getting a bit thin on tread, so rather than getting it repaired I decided to get 2 new Toyos and replace both rear tyres. Now, after a bit of ringing around I got a pretty good price on a pair of Toyos fitted and balanced but the place was 25 miles away. I thought, "I know, I will do a temporary repair with the can of tyre weld in the boot" and drive the Tuscan to said place. So after getting the coordinates of the tyre place off the internet and double checking with the guy that they were indeed in stock, I plotted a course on the Sat-Nav and set off. About 3/4 of the way there it was becoming patently obvious that the tyre weld had failed to stem the leak, with a rather pungent smell of burning rubber in the cabin and some rather interesting handling becoming apparent! Finally my Sat-Nav announced "You have reached your destination", errr... no, no sign of any tyre fitters here, but about 100yards up the road I noticed a large sign with a tyre on it, Bingo! I drove onto the forecourt and was beckoned into the fitting bay "excellent service" I thought "they were waiting for me". Within 3 minutes the car was jacked up and the now very damaged beyond any hope of repair tyre removed with much "god that stinks, what a mess", etc... You can probably guess what was said next! "So, sir what sort of tyre would you like to relace it?" "Excuse me" I said. "What brand of tyre would you like?" Me; "I rang earlier to confirm you had 2 Toyo Proxes 255x35x18", "we don't deal in Toyos normally sir, are you sure?" Me; "This is motorsport wheels isn't it?" "No sir, they moved about 4 years ago, used to have a place about 100 yards down the road"!!!!!! So there I am, the Tuscan up on a jack minus a wheel and abot 5 miles away from where I should be:yikes: Fortunately the manager of the place was a top bloke and fitted me with a second hand tyre of the right size and gave me directions to where I should have been. All's well that ends well!!!!

bet you it was a Tomtom...

It was a TomTom Go. To be fair it did direct me exactly where the tyre fitters should have been, it's just that they moved 4 years ago and didn't update their address on the internet.
