hi,
i am in the bristol uni motor club and we are thinking about seeing if we can have friendly competitions against other motor clubs nearby next year.
we would be hopefully doing autotests (short challenges in a field), go-karting and maybe rallies (altho i dont know how we would get over the fact that one team would know the roads better).

anyway, basically just wondering if they think there is any interest.

Isn't PistonHeads Bristol Faction a sort of motor club? Or are we a curry club? It's kinda blurred...

legally you are not a motor club as we have a lot of paperwork that needs to be filled in for anything to do with our club (insurance, MSA etc etc).

and also, although we generally have a similar appreciation for cars as you lot, our approach to motorsport is probably one that most of you would not be happy to apply to your cars. rallies are one of the biggest events, and are basically only suited to small-ish cars that you dont mind bombing down an unknown country road in at 3am.

but having said that, i suppose karting and hte like could still be done.

That could be one of several reasons:

1. You got a lift to the pub and the local brew was a tad stronger than you realised.
2. You came in KingR7's 7 and the wind chill has frozen your optical nerves.
3. The chicken chilli optimax is just kicking in...

4. You got a lift with Neil and you (as well as the interior of the car) got shaken to death/scared to death trying to keep up with aforementioned 7.

5. You definitly need to change the gearbox...

Cap'n, the engines cannae take it nae more...

Shut up and drive

I dunno, I'm sure that can be arranged!

Mendip Blat at 3am anyone? I can just imagine Mr and Mrs average waking up to the sound of me driving past at 12,000 Rpm.

Chris,

I'm the championship secretary for Devizes and District motor club, we already have agreements in place to take part in events run by both Bath MC and Bristol Pegasus MC - would be more than happy to help you in your quest.
Drop me a PM with your e-mail address if you want to discuss further.

hi,

i am the marshal co-ordinator and committee member for bristol motor club www.bristolmc.org.uk.

email the comp sec with your details, his address is on the web page, and i am sure he will sort something out.

Bristol MC used to have a good relationship with Bristol University MC, i guess the organising body have moved on and that relationship died somewhat. I think there were a fair few 12 cars held in the past between the two clubs and Bristol Pegasus MC www.bristolpegasus.com

anyway, email Glyn and I an sure it will be discussed in the close future.

Incidentally, why not come and offer your services as marshals at Castle Combe this saturday (2nd). its the BMC sprint and will be a great event (and a chance to meet a few people!)

I was in that when a student, erm.. :cough cough: 15 years ago..

Used to do a few 12 car navigation events of an evening as I recall. And quite a lot of drinking in the Highbury Vaults..

Not sure how these things work these days, but I'm sure there would be a few of us that could get together for karting or somesuch activity..
