Hi,

I’ve had my 2006 Tamora for just under a year now and love it (having wanted one for years).

The one thing that troubles me is that it smells rich and of Fuel in the boot. I’ve had a look under the plastic carpet cover thing and everything is solid and dry.

Anyone else had this issue and can it be solved?

Thanks

Andy

Hi, just read your post.

My first thoughts would be to check the "roll-over valve". On the Tuscan, its a black plastic bodied part tie-wrapped to the B-pillar roll bar and visible if you slide the trim through which the seat belt emerges on the passenger side.

I recall previous posts on PH advising replacement of the valve cured a strong petrol smell. Another way to 'track' it would be to follow the small bore pipe clipped to the petrol tank filler....the other end of the small bore line goes to the valve.

Agreed. The valve on mine was a bit sticky and was causing the tank to pressurise. The hard tubing from the tank to the valve also seems to get kinked and stop air flow too, so try feel along for any kinks.

My Sagaris once had a fuel leakage at one of the connectors to the fuel filter, which sits right under the rear floor. You couldn't see it at the filter, because the fuel volatilised very fast, but you had the smell in the rear of the car.

Does anybody know which exact Fords had this roll-over valve? I know the P/N is 91AB9A153AA but have never found the models equipped with it...
Need to replace mine too because of fuel smell in cabin and it's whining /fluttering when switching off the engine when it's hot

Did some further digging to answer my own question.
The above mentioned p/n doesn't result in many hits in search engines but I managed to find the following Ford finis codes

P/N 6482752 (https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/96/no/0/2263/18194/79597/#11)
Valve Assy - Fuel Vapour
Escort/Orion 1990-1995 (EA)
Escort 1995-2001 (FA)
Scorpio 1994-1998 (FE)
Or 6179757 (https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/94/no/0/2233/18116/79288/?detail=6179757#18)

For the identical part but with alternative attachment I found 1643795 (https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/64/no/0/1904/16921/73369/#8 )
