Amazing how the world has collapsed around us in a few shorts weeks.
DXB wasn't in a great position pre C19, I am not so worried about the actual virus in all honesty, as long as the wife and I plus kids remain ok.
The mid to long term impact of it however absolutely terrifies me, I spent most of last night thinking how quickly we could leave the country if required, thankfully we have almost zero debt here so wouldn't be too painful.
Then started thinking wtf would we go back to...
Drastic changes have been to friends employment packages or status this week, I know what is on the very near horizon at my end and it is not good.
On a positive note, bought as much Sterling as I could last Thursday and the roads are quiet!

Heartily glad I never took the step of buying a property here.
Moved all money back to UK recently.
Don’t feel in imminent danger of redundancy but I fully expect many jobs to be lost.
If oil stays low we all have problems anyway.
I wasn’t here in 08/09 but this could be another one. Wise to have an exit plan.

It was difficult getting hotel reservations for later in the year at a reasonable price, as I guess they were counting on filling them up with Expo tourists. Anyone know the latest over there?
