Serif Affinity software 50% discount
Discussion
For those looking for a photoshop like software that you only pay once for, Serif are currently offering a 50% discount on their products. That's around £24 each for their photo, designer and publisher packages. The photo package handles a wide range of formats including psd and old and new RAW. They also issue free updates.
If you don't want to commit to buying they're also offering 90 day free trials.

I've used Serif products for years. I found them remarkable value for money. I also had Photoshop before then went on subscription.
Affinity was a massive step up in both quality and value. Their studio system is remarkable; a real game-changer. I have all three Affinity programmes and now no longer use Photoshop.
Don't think that you'll never change. Try it and see.
I've no connection with Serif, apart from being a well satisfied customer for over a dozen years.

I use Affinity Photo in conjunction with Capture One 20, it is a really capable program and excellent value.
Just bought the Photo app for Windows and installed it. First impressions are:
1. Looks a bit daunting initially, but use the video tutorials and you’ll be fine
2. I’ve taken RAW and JPEG together for years so I imported RAW files into the programme to tweak them.
3. So far, I’ve only used it to clean up and enhance images before sending them off to be printed in a photo book, but have been pleased with the results
Definitely recommended - a bargain considering what you can do with your stock of photos and you’re not wanting the full functionality of a more expensive software such as Lightroom.

I thought I would bump this thread because Affinity are still offering the 50% discount on a product that I have been led to believe is a worthy rival to Photoshop, with the added benefit that it's not cloud based so you're not locked into an ever increasing yearly fee to use the software.

... i'm probably going to end up buying all of them ...
... got photo, got publisher in the offer and have been enjoying using designer trial during lockdown...

Whats Affinity photo like at cataloguing photos? Been using LR since LR3.x so im used to the way it catalogues photos.
I take it Affinity Designer is the Photoshop equivalent?
It doesn’t have a DAM at all so if you need such a thing you would need additional software. Affinity photo is basically a PhotoShop replacement rather than a Lightroom replacment and a very good one it is too.I take it Affinity Designer is the Photoshop equivalent?
Personally I use Capture One 20 Sony for DAM and RAW rendering and Affinity for more complex edits and composites. You can round trip from C1P to Affinity and back easily, they work very well together. HTH.
I've spent a bit of the lockdown improving my knowledge of Aff Designer. I've not had that much use for vector graphics in the past but thought I'd give it a go. I started with Blender, but after a push from a friend, changed to AD.
It's converted me to vector graphics. Tremendous fun, very flexible, and gives great results. The next three weeks should make me quite good at it.
There's no way I'm going to get into more than 20% of what's available. It's a remarkable bit of software.
I think I'll change my working practices in order to use it more often.
When I was in my late teens/early 20s, despite a lack of artistic ability, I used to design logos and integrated business documentation. It included shop and vehicle graphics. I had some success, mainly because I copied other people's ideas. Modified enough though. With this software I might even have been good at it.
What's exciting already is that the brushes, especially the washes, can be modified by adding nodes. I wasted over an hour last evening playing with it.

That's an option, use the Capture One 20 for Fuji freebie and then Affinity Photo for editing.Personally I use Capture One 20 Sony for DAM and RAW rendering and Affinity for more complex edits and composites. Just installed the Mac 90 day trial & Affinity seems pretty decent or use Adobe bridge & Affinity.

That’s exactly how I started but with the Free C1 Sony Express version. Didn’t take me long to realise how good it is so bought the full Sony version with all the bells and whistles. If you have a Sony or Fuiji it really is a steal and works extremely well with AP as the pixel editor. Just tried Affinity Photo on some of my older files and it wasnt opening them right.
Used to use a Fuji S5 and Lightroom would convert them into DNG files.
When i open them in Bridge they are ok but pass them to Affinity or open them from finder they have a purple solarized loook to them. Not the end of the world as i have the associated jpgs from the S5 (needed very little editing of the RAF's as the jpgs were damn good).

Affinity is now updated to v2 and is on offer for 40% off a universal licence of Designer, Publisher and Photo across Windows, Mac and iPad for £89.99 (the iPad version of Publisher is new for v2). The individual apps are discounted to £35.99 for desktop and £9.99 for iPad. This will keep them updated until whenever v3 comes along (I bought the v1 Mac desktop apps in November 2019 for £33.99 each).
