Bloke I knew was hastily knocking up some flats for a theatre production. He was using a nail gun with the guard safety thing taped back so he could fire from a distance ... and he was holding two bits of wood in place with his foot which was protected with a non-steel toe capped trainer. Foot is softer than wood, so nail head buried itself. Ouch.

A mate of mine worked on a site in london, a bloke was fixing timbers to some steel work with a Hilti Gun, he missed the steel and shot another guy in the head
now thats gotta hurt

Several years ago I was trying to change a small strip bulb in the shaving light above the mirror in the bathroom. It was a bit stuck so I put my fore fingers on each end of the bulb to try and tease it out. After several seconds of applying pressure, the bulb smashed, and my right forefinger slid onto the broken tube.
End of finger immediately flapped off - the cut was so quick and clean that it didn't bleed for several seconds. I looked at bone in shock, and boy, did it then bleed. Really awful part was that my then girlfriend (now wife) was in the bath at the time and as I turned around in shock, the first spurt of blood sprayed over her.
She jumped out and wrapped a towel around her and then proceeded to drive me to A&E post haste. She'd never driven my car before and the gears were seriously crunched.
Although I was pressing the fingertip back on as hard as possible all the way there, some perverse instinct kept making me peel it away every now and then to see if it was still bleeding - which of course it was.
Lost the feeling in end of the fingertip & hasn't returned. No longer good for picking nose anymore - feels like someelse is doing it!
