Hi All,

Zed has been sitting for a few months and the battery went flat. Fully charged and reinstalled and now many things don’t work...

Convertible roof - button flashes red, nothing actuates.
Electric windows - nothing, no noises, nada.
Comfort boot release - press the button, nothing happens.
Wipers - zip. Nothing doing.
Remote locking - Nope.

The radio, heated seats, heater blower, indicators and lights *do* work - although I’ve not tested AC - as does the computer, Rev counter etc.

Any ideas, anyone?

Search for "transport mode" it sounds like it could be that.

Sounds like a dead general module.

Hi
Did you get this issue fixed?
What was the problem?
Thanks

Holy thread resurrection.....

Have exactly the same issues as the OP on my 2003 Z4. Battery went dead, used a battery pack starter to start first time, all ok. I've done this 3 or 4 times over the past 2 months (to tight to buy a new battery!). However, on Tuesday the OP's symptoms appeared, so fitted a new battery and still the same.

Reading various forums, it looks like the GM5 module is the likely culprit. I'm midway removing it, but it's tricky when the passenger door won't open as accessing it under the glove box is the work of a contortionist!

Anyway, I don't think it's a fuse as the wipers and windows were intermittently moving and relays were jittering when I drove to pick up a battery. Hopefully removing and sending off the GM5 for relays changes will fix it smile

I'd get the fault codes read from the OBD before changing anything - you might be replacing things that aren't the cause of the problem.

Just to add....

The module arrived and all works, except remote central locking. I assume this is a coding issue with the key/s.

The replacement was from an E85 Z4, so no recoding of windows, doors, roof etc.

Sticks.

Just to keep this updated. The remote central locking still won't work, but I'll hopefully get it sorted next week.

The electric roof works fine, so I'm hoping I've got off reasonably lightly with the replacement GM5 module.
