Definately School For Scoundrels. The humour's still fresh - you could bring it out today, provided you called it 'How To Be An Utter Barsteward And Get Away With It' (or something).

And that Aston Martin DB3S in it is , despite the fact that they had to give it an extra bit of cowling for the back end when they crashed it - just shows the respect they had for the rest of the car!

While I was looking for a piccy I discovered that Alec Guinness’s part was originally cast for Alistair Sim. With this in mind Guinness comes across as to be playing Sim playing Professor Marcus.

It sure as hell is. Obnoxious and annoying start to finish. I wish they would re-release the old classics whose memory they defile with these so-called remakes. Maybe the original is on DVD. I haven't seen the original, but feel fairly confident that it couldn't have been as bad as the new one to inspire a re-make in the first place. /rant off.

Very good film, however it's not an Ealing film. It was made in 1960 by the Associated British Picture Corporation at Elstree.

The Ealing comedies are :-

Hue & Cry (1946)
Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949)
Passport to Pimlico (1949)
Whiskey Galore (1949)
The Lavendar Hill Mob (1951)
The Man in the White Suit (1951)
The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953)
The Maggie (1954)
The Ladykillers (1955)

Before these there were various comedies from Ealing Studios starring the likes Will Hay, George Formby and Tommy Trinder who were all pressed into service during WWII to make both comedy and wartime propaganda films. The films above were the first post-war productions.
