Hi guys,

It's been suggested that hear is a good place to get experiences, feedback and advice on a recent purchase (MK6 Golf GTI).

I was really surprised to see the front tyres at 19/24 (rears were a more normal 32/34) when on checking several days ago. Front tyres were made in November '18 and rear in mid '17 so perhaps they hadn't been checked since being fitted. Bizarrely it really felt quite flat after I inflated pressures to the recommended number of 38/38 and nowhere near as nice as at 19/24. How can that be right? I hope that dropping them again but to a higher 34/34 will make a difference. What do you think the sweet spot is, despite what's advised in the fuel cap? I rarely carry passengers or luggage.

Going on Monday now to get the exhaust inspected and the indy will also run a fault code check - I'll also suggest he slips the engine cover off and sees which model tensioner it is. FYI, from 40 to 60 mph in 6th gear, there is a boom/resonance from underneath the car. I can't discern what it is or what's causing it. Does it sound exhaust related to you or something else? Please advise.

Any thoughts on the switchable chassis control button that's been optioned with my car? It seems like a really rare option. Though it was standard with most 'Roccos very few Mk6 GTIs have this - I've checked the classifieds. It isn't clear if switching between the modes should alter damper stiffness and throttle map as well as steering feel. At present, sport only makes the steering heavier - there is no discernible difference between the comfort and normal modes and the ride remains the same in all settings. It's fine and quite firm but not crashy or unyielding on any roads.

I have DCC on my Scirocco and you can definitely feel the difference between the 3 settings both in ride comfort and in steering weight, however many other people who have the system say they don't notice any diffetence.

If anyone else has thoughts, experiences that would also be much appreciated? I was advised to post in this section rather than readers' cars. As mentioned switching between modes doesn't seem to affect the damping/ride. Sport mode increases steering weight noticeably but that's it. Does this mean there is a problem with the system or are ride changes simply too miniscule to discern?

1.You should be able to feel the suspension changes with the mode button, otherwise see what your garage says about fault codes

2. Cant comment on the exhaust noise

3. See info on tensioner here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?board=75.0

4. You could try the MK5 pressures, 34psi front/back or stick with the mk6 at 37.5

Ok, thank you. That forum simply won't allow registration. No idea what's wrong with it. Keeps throwing up errors

keep trying.

For the exhaust it might be a botched mod e.g.

If you post some pics of even just the tips, it could be as simple as a replacement "performance" exhaust
