Not THE BEST regardless of price, but a good value one please.

My cheapo chinky one has failed after 5 years - plastic thread into plastic no longer seals.

Good old topeak Joeblow, think they're about £30-40? seem to be pretty indestructible.

Or if you're feeling flush a Silca Super Pista

Joeblow. Lasts forever, parts available for servicing.

Lifeline Essential track pump £15 from wiggle.

Have been using it for a few years now without problems.

Second this. It's cheap and it pumps air. What more do you need?

The cheap Joeblow looks as if it has the same plastic/plastic screw arrangement that my original one had. I did think about ordering the replacement Joeblow parts to see if they fit. They do look remarkably similar.

I have ordered a Lifeline. Thank you for the suggestions; apart from the Silca Super Pista obviously! I'd like to look at that - described as: "the one to leave for your kids"!

I’ve used Joe Blow pumps and have been very unimpressed. Flimsy, bendy, hard work.

Best track pumps I’ve used have been Lezyne. Huge range, but the steel floor drive is affordable and will serve you well. The brass ‘chuck’ adaptor is excellent, screws onto the valve stem, positive and no leaks. Reversible too for Presta or Schrader.

hehe

I listened to a podcast a while back with the American guy that bought the Silca company when the grandson of the founder became too ill to carry on. He spent ages trying to justify why his products are so much more than workshop jewellery. But it's still the same air in your tyres at the end of the day, doesn't matter how it got there when a cheapy pump still lasts 10+ years and works perfectly well...

Time to own up. When I said I'd bought Lifeline, what I actually bought was this one:

It's a lovely thing, lots of metal, proper fittings. Compared with my old one it's a joy to have and use. Not as mad as the Silca Super Pista, but it is very nice. I've tried it out on 8 wheels and it's stable and easy to use

Well la-de-da, look at you with your fancy track pump.

It does look nice though, so I might buy one if my cheapo Lifeline one breaks.

Was just about to come in and recommend that exact Lifeline pump. Does a great job!

I have a Joeblow mountain, the extra volume fills tyres faster and is great for seating tubeless tyres.

Only goes up to 60psi though which might not suit if you're a roadie.

I went on Gumtree and picked up a 25l compressor, which is now sat permanently plumbed in in my workshop. Except when I go out mountain biking, when it gets lifted into the boot of the car. It cost £40, so good track pump money. Would recommend.

Seems to be the best one? I need it for a Brompton.

I was fed up going to get the car keys to use the car tyre inflator. So splashed out a hard earned ten quid (£10) from that famous bike shop Wilko.

It's pretty good, inflates quickly and seems sturdy with a metal barrel.
