Does anyone else get the problem of having the black lines at the top and bottom of something in widescreen, even when you're watching it on a widescreen tv?
Has the box been told its on a wide screen tv? (common problem with dvd players). Movies often use a more rectangular ratio than widescreen tv's (1:1.85 for cinema vs 14:9 for home widescreen), so you still have bars at the top and bottom unfortunately.

Depends on the aspect ratio of the film, most are shot in 2.35:1 which on even on widescreen will give you the black bars. Fims at 1.85:1 will fill you'll whole screen.
Will say on the back of the DVD what ratio.
