Broadly motoring related though I'm sure this will be moved to some murky corner of Pistonheads that nobodies ever seen before.

When I were a lad I had a car/road play mat that formed an excellent theatre for staging unusually dramatic matchbox car crashes. What was great about my car mat was that it had a heavy rubber backing so it never got wrinkles and could be neatly rolled up to store (I didn't care about that last bit when I was a kid but time has imparted great wisdom).

My son is 5 and we'd like something similar for him but most of the stuff we're finding online seems to be quite lightweight and I suspect would get bunched up very easily.

I'm sure many a PH'er has bought their offsprings something like this in an effort to force them into a life of car obsession so maybe you could flood this thread with your recommendations.

We bought this for the grandsons visits. Cried so much when leaving, they took it home.

Cheers. I was looking at that one. It's quite thin at 5mm but do you find it stays flat?

Had no complaints about it , kids play on it most days so flattened out anyway I would guess.

We have this one in 2m x 2m - placed on foam mats over a tiled floor. Works very well.

Cheers folks. Looks like we'll be paying a visit to the temple of meat balls then.

Something slightly different, we've got our boy a couple of these now. https://thecarpits.com/

And I may have to get the Suzuka one this year, for him obviously.

Pros and cons to all things, but while you cant assess quality well over photos, the buildings and road layout looks poor to me.

I don't have those but the company was good when I bought some mats for my son's first car. Fitted perfectly even down to the clips to keep them in place.
