Was anyone there?

I went with the kids for a couple of hours and there and had a great time - some very fast cars so imagined some owners would be on here?

Cheers.

I went and did 3 runs in my MR2. Ended up against a dsg quattro Audi of some description every time, which is a bit dull wobble . Awaiting results, hoping for a high 13, but not sure.
I'm not sure I'd visit without having a go, but it does give you a good hit of tyre smoke and noise.
The drifting is more of a BMW graveyard every time I see it, but entertaining for a bit. Camel vale motorclub uses the same area for autosolos, which is a lot of fun if you have want to have a go.

I did see an MR2 which looked quick on a run, we were stood where you could see the reaction times, top speed and time - so it was quite entertaining. Saw a few 10 second runs and they looked madly quick. I hear what you're saying but my 11 year old daughter was loving every minute of the noise and tyre smoke, especially at the drifting, so it was a tenner well spent and we will be back at the next one! To be honest I also liked that one run was a McLaren and a GTR, then the next was some guy in a completely standard Peugeot 108 against a ragged 05 plate E55!

I usually make it when they run every 3 months or so, but didn't make this one.

Think the next one is 18th April. Great that there is something like this going close to home when you look at the others that have recently closed - York and Shakespeare both gone recently.

It's the only place I've seen drifting and although I go to take part and watch the drag racing, think the drifting is more of a spectacle.

Shame they don't have any viewing areas part way down the track or near the finish line, it's all a bit to congested near the start line.

I guess its a safety thing, but found there was enough people cycling through so you could get a good spot and see everything.

We copped and changed between the drifting and the drag strip over the time and was a good laugh - definitely going back in April.

There was club stands too - should get a PH contingent....(but not my car!)

There is always a nice selection of cars at the raceway, great little local event. I tend to spectate as my cars are slow and uncompetitive.

Ditto, but that didn't stop plenty of people in a random selection of shopper cars! I applaud them really.

York isn't 100% dead yet.

Not been there this year but used to go in this. Not sure I'll make any events this year as new car in many many peices and looks to continue that way for some time.

Also been lent this v8 escort to run in the past. If you see the yellow van there that's me, ph'ers welcome for free cup o tea or use of tools.

Nice one.

Who owns the escort - is that Gav's car??

No mate, a mate of mine called Chris. Great car, not really suited to drag racing but it was a good day out that's for sure!

Edit: just realised we have actually met. I was varnishing at port pendennis last summer, we asked about the finishing process on your rather pretty new tenders.

I took part in an experimental track day at Spitfure raceway today. Theres a section that absolutely must be resurfaced for it to continue but otherwise it's a great circuit, quite technical in places and some very fat chicanes if you get them right. Worth keeping an eye on their website and facebook page for the next event.

I think we all need to get behind this, I'd hate to loose this opportunity to have monthly track days in west cornwall.

I'd be happy to put anything I hear on this thread. I've doubled my efforts to get my trackday car ready now.
