Thames Valley Crackdown ?
Discussion
Doing the rounds via email in my office - make of it what you will:
I have been given the the following info from a source who confirms that the
police have been given new performance targets to meet. Be Warned!
The Thames Valley Police are mounting a 6 month "raid" (from 1st June) on
the M40 / M4 / A34 and have the following "unmarked" vehicles:
2 x BMW 535i - 1 Silver & 1 Dk Green
1 x Seat Cordoba 2.0 VTi - Silver
2 x Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 SRi - 1 Black & 1 Red
2 x Vauxhall Omega 3.0i SRi - Burgundy
1 x Volvo S40 T4 - Red
2 x Volvo S70 - White
1 x VW Bora 2.3 VTi - Red
2 x VW Passat VR6 - Silver
They are also using a helicopter from Junction 4-9 of the M4 from next
Monday for a two week period plus mobile speed cameras on bridges around
Maidenhead.
I received this about 2 weeks ago. This is what the first paragraph on that one said:

The rest was mainly the same. If this keep happening then the 6 month period will be 7, 8, 9 etc months!!! Still I suppose it gets the message across.
BTW I think that at least some of it is true, as I saw the Omega in question, with a magnetic flashing blue light at the scene of an accident on the M4 at Slough. However, I live fairly close to the M4 in Maidenhead (just north of J8/9), and I haven't seen the Helicopter. Its interesting but I don't think that they are allowed to fly south of the M4 at that point because it is in Heathrow airspace (certainly Balloons aren't) - and as I said I've not seen it.
For your further info watch out for a blue Scoobi-doo on the M1 - unmarked apart from 2 blue reversing lights at the rear and 2 behind the grill. Also a blue unmarked Volvo Estate on the M55 around Blackpool - he got me (3 points & £40 - let me off lightly!)

Well, never one to support wind ups... I went from Maidenhead to Reading yesterday, just after 9:00 AM, and they police were kneel on one of the bridges, with the camera trained on the west bound carriageway, and coming back, between junctions 10 and 8/9 there was a dark blue helicopter following the traffic.
Just my 2c worth, you make your own luck.

I just got sent this. I reckon it's feasibile - pass it on...

quote:Don't be lulled into a false sense of security by this... They can fly helicopters in the Heathrow TMA - they just have to be under control of the London ATC. Balloons and gliders are excluded. Rich...
