Yoko AVS Sports
Discussion
Hi all, just after a bit of advice really. My front tyres (PZero's) on my S1 are about illegal on the inside edges, they've done 20k miles, but the outside edges are fine. Is this how they normally wear or do I need the tracking/geometry settings looked at?
secondly, i thought the PZero's weren't really that good... my local Yoko dealer has got A539's and AVS Sports at reasonable money (£50 for the A539 and £55 for the AVS). Has anybody had experience with either of these? I was going to change just the fronts and do the rears (still got PZero's..) when they're ready as I dont really want to throw good tyres away, will this be ok, or will it upset the balance of my car?
Also, will a size change from 185/55 R15 to 195/50 R15 be a problem or make any difference?
thanks in advance

I have them on mine, I changed them from P0's when I bought the car. I think they're great but admit to not having experience with anything else. They are likely to be better than standard A539 but not as good as ADVANS and the like.
I would recommend you change front and rears though, it could be a false economy if you stick it through a hedge backwards because the front a significantly better than rears.
Prices sound good, where di dyou get those?

Paul,
P Zeros are a good tyre, don't believe the hype.
I and many others find them a very communicative tyre with good levels of grip.
Sure they are not the best in the wet, but not as bad a people think.
I changed to T1-Rs after a puncture. Had a similar dilemma. Change just the backs or all 4?
Went for all 4 in the end, but mis my P0's.
The good news is that I have 2 good (front) P Zeros if you fancy. Loads of tread (think you should get a geo if your's are wearing unevenly)
Drop me a mail (duncan@smallfry.com) if you are interested, don't want much for them.
I'm sure it's not essential but I'd sooner have the same brand/type tyre in each corner.

I have exactly this issue just coming up. I have P Zeros and I have been waiting for 5 years for the timing of all 4 tyres to be worn at the same time, before making a switch. I don't do track days and use the car every day. I think I have decided on the Yoko Advan, but the idea of being tied into buying them from dealers only for life, at well over £400 a set has made me stop a bit.
Anyone know where or how to get them cheaper, or non-Lotus?
