replacing a H&R coil over spring....simple job?
Discussion
I need a front spring replacing on a Gen 1 Audi RS6.
Its had the DRC replaced with a H&R coil over set up. I have the new part now, is this a straight forward job for any garage?
Or is it more specialist than replacing a standard spring on an every day simple car.
Do i need to buy an adjustment tool too?
Does the wheel alignment need doing after this?
Not had chance to discuss with any garages as of yet..
Cheers

Providing its your standard style coil over then yes, very straight forward job w3ell with in the scope of any garage
Yep, standard looking spring. I was just wondering if they need to adjust anything once its been swapped?S8QUATTRO said:

As above, if they're smart enough to measure the existing position of the spring seat, all they need to do is put it back where it started from.A thorough wire-brush and some penetrating oil well ahead of time might be a good idea.
I have had the exact same issue (not RS6 but coilover spring replaement). Wait until the Mrs goes out and put the offending coilover in the dishwasher with two tablets and it will come out looking like brand new, this saves hours of faffing with WD40 and a stiff brush.
Mark above and below the platform with a sharpie and wind it down, old spring out and new one in, then wind the platform back to its original position - confirm its position by counting how many threads up from the bottom (or down from the top) and you're done.
two hours is plenty of time including stopping for a cuppa halfway through.
