Shock absorbers ,springs on or off?

Any advice please.I,m doing a restoration on a early 60,s classic sports car.I have the front and rear shocks which have coil springs,probably won’t be fitted for 2 to 3 years .
Would it be better to leave springs off or compress and fit.

They won't care either way. If you install them now, there are fewer parts to get lost.
