A8 D3 headlight adjuster not working

The NS headlight on my A8 D3 is no longer automatically moving up and down when the lights come on, it's resting low so I've jacked it up on the manual adjuster for now. No fault codes showing.
I suspect the balljoint on the motor has come out/snapped, how easy are these to get to? The motors seem cheap enough but I'd like to confirm what's wrong before I start ordering parts.
