2019 M4 Competition Pack
Discussion
Having been to an evo magazine track day earlier in the year when BMW brought along their M cars to try, I drove the M4CP and loved it. I then saw the discounts available earlier this month and knew I'd return to M car ownership, having previously owned an E46 M3. We're also driving to the Nice as I'm riding the Etape du Tour, through Italy and home again via the Stelvio Pass next summer so thought the the M4 would make a nicer GT car than the M2 and it can swallow my road bike and our luggage. It's a little larger, more features as standard, comes in San Marino Blue and with the big discounts, the same price.
The M4, now only available in Competition Pack form and with DCT is how I would have specified the car anyway. This car has the Ultimate Pack too, tl;dr, HUD, parking cameras etc. I went to my local dealership and we saw a San Marino Blue car in the showroom and my wife and I loved the colour. We knew we wanted SMB and black leather.
I'm 200 miles in, 1000 miles to go until the running service. Initial thought are, it's great. Coming from a 2011 C63 AMG, infotainment is brilliant. The front turns in and doesn't wash out. Fuel consumption isn't really an issue but it's 20% better than the C63. I do miss the noise of the thunderous 6.2L V8 though and the wheels look like kerb magnets.
Collected it at the weekend. A few photographs.

Somebody near my house has one identical to this the colour is gorgeous especially in the sunlight. I also had a 204 c63 (incredible engine!) but heard someone booting it down the road in an M4 and the sound of it really put me off don’t know if it had been modified as it was quite loud but sounded awful! If they did an m3/4 estate I’d love one as I prefer the looks to the new c63 especially the M3 with the big rear arches.

M3/M4 do sound cack sadly. Not sure how they managed it given other turbo straight six sound nice. Still quite fancy one.
Still running it in, 900 miles until the RIS. Looking forward to some dry weather so be able to explore more of the rev range.
I've never been one to spend time cleaning my cars but San Marino Blue really needs to be clean to be at its best. I thought I'd try that snow foam stuff so bought the Karcher extension and a bottle of the stuff.

Looking at paint protection products now.

I thought that too, but I'm 8K miles into mine from new and nary as much as a scratch on any of the wheels, despite living in the sticks, where the roads are potholed to f
k and the kerbs are as uneven as a prime number.I love mine more than most cars I've had, despite owning far more exotic stuff previously, mostly because it's stupidly fast in the dry, and I'm sure you'll love yours!
Love that colour too!

Could you give us some feedback on snow foam if it’s your first time? I probably should look into this to make my car washing easier.
Cheers
It's easier than I thought. The Karcher extension was £15 from Halfords along with a bottle of Karcher foam for £6. Used half a bottle for this wash. Let the foam soak in and rinsed it off with the hose, along with the majority of the dirt. Cheers

That's good to hear. I'm not too far away from you and the country roads around here are truly horrendous at the moment.

I was wondering how much snow foam worked out costing per wash (I’m a TFR fan, which is very cheap). What size was the Karcher bottle at 6 quid? I imagine there will be trade products out there that work out much cheaper per wash.
One litre bottle I think. I was quite generous with its application so could probably have got three washes from the bottle. Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
