as to leader ...rifkind, no. not this time round, missed the boat with his chances when he lost his seat of edinburgh pentlands a few years back.
if the tories want any chance it HAS to be davis, he is ably a match for brown and should prove to be, to the tory party what blair was to the labour party in 97, a "youthful", enthusiastic and dynamic leader and an electoral asset..it has to be davis.

Don't you accept that Hague is a bit too tainted as Il Geek Almighty and simply , what, a tad au Boris for we Nordic simians?

He was my MP for a while, even considered buying my house because it was conveniently situated in his district. He was a good constituency MP, but as a leader - too stiff, geeky, and no youthful, man of the people.

Mine too. He was excellent for his constituency and the replacement the morons in Pentlands voted in is a useless conniving self-aggrandising piece who is seldom in her constituency.
Still, she was one of Blair's babes, so that makes it alright

Agree about Hague. It's no accident that he led the Tories to one of the biggest election defeats in their history. He cannot and must not be allowed to stand, and thankfully he realises that he is a liability.
Initially I was quite pro-Davis, but the more I read or hear him speak the more I think "nah...." I heard an interesting interview on R4 today, a prominent Tory commentator, Bruce Anderson, who was commenting about DD in the same way, not Prime Minister material, and I would have to agree.
He was, however, much more positive about David Cameron. Again, I tend to agree.
Let's not forget DD was a cabinet minister, in the last Tory failure govt, where he was hardly a shining example of majesty, and has been in opposition for years, where again, he hasn't really done that much.
