Does anyone know or can recommend any Mercedes Benz AMG specialists in the South West for servicing/repairs/tuning?

Hope to find someone other than main dealer to look after my 2012 C63 AMG.

I used Avantgarde and the team there were superb, know what they are working on and very experienced in their field.

HOWEVER I also recommended them to another PH member who had a very different experience and ended up taking it elsewhere - I guess there’s good and bad out there about everyone.

RE:Performance in Swindon have recently announced lots of MB & AMG stuff. They're very well regarded with the Audi & Lambo crowd so I'd check them out.

I use these guys for my CLK 55 AMG and good reports. Spotless workshop as well.

Just for balance, here is my up date, one and only experience with these guys :

Booked my 2018 C63 in for alignment, just to straighten the steering wheel, thats all I wanted. My local Kwikfit has a Hunter alignment machine and trained operatives but Avantgarde explained that the C63 is special and only they ought to do it. Yeah right. Anyway.....

It was nearly two weeks before they could do it, but I was prepared to wait after reading all the fantastic reviews. Took the morning off work, drove the 40 miles there, waited around for 30 minutes, to be told that actually they had a car on the ramp that they cant move so they cant do my alignment. Instead, they said they would check the suspension and order all the necessary parts (wtf!!) and then book me in again for another time to do my alignment. Left at that point.

Never going there again. And looking at the state of the place, maybe I dodged a bullet.

Back to the main dealers I go.

I gave up on Avantgarde in the end as they seem more interested in the Schmee's of the world rather than repeat customers.

I now use D&B Automotive in Winford for my SLK and they are utterly brilliant. First time I took it there, they didn't want to do anything but thoroughly check the car over.
They then gave me a list of :-

• This needs doing now
• This should be done medium term
• This just needs keeping an eye on.

They have loan cars at v little money (a tenner maybe ?) and will give you one based on whether you're going into a CAZ or not
Plus their staffie who lives under the desk is just the sweetest thing ever

Thoroughly recommended.

I've used Avantgarde and never had an issue but would say they do like the upsell.

I have also however used D&B in Winford and they are fantastic. I would highly recommend them and I will be using them in the future.

I have recently switched from Avantgarde to Parkway in Bristol. I will be sticking with Parkway going forward.

I've been using Avantgarde for the last 4 months and I can't recommend them highly enough so I thought I'd pop a review here as I've been surprised by some of the comments!.

I started using them in September for my McLaren 12C and I've just bought a C63 507 coupe to add to my small collection which I have just had serviced and health checked by them.

I found Steve to be an absolute encyclopaedia on both cars and both times has given me the best service I've ever had at a garage. Not many will allow you in the workshop and under the car to show you particular parts that are serviceable/non serviceable and need sorting and that's the sort of confidence I like to have in any workshop.
