Dinner Suit / Tux hire
Discussion
Ive always wanted an invite to one of these black tie type parties, and finally its happened...not taken long then:rolleyes:
How much is a suit etc going to cost me to hire?
And what should I do / avoid. Is there a sertain style I should wear according to my stature etc???
Cheers

Not being personal, don't know your 'stature' so if big beer belly = NOT double breasted.
White shows all the marks, so black, with a shiny stripe down the outside.
Non-ruffled shirt, simple studs more elegant.
Plain black shoes, silk socks.
Probably £50 worth on hire. Try yr local Moss Bros.

Matalan have got some great priced ones, lets face it, once everyone has had a drink no one can tell if it's made to measure or has a designer label.
I would buy one if I were you, it doesn't take many wears of one for it to be cheaper than hiring. I got one from M&S, a few days law I saw one at (don't laugh) ASDA which was absolutely identical and about the quarter of the price of the M&S one. Put it this way, it would have been cheaper to buy it than hire it as a one off.
The last time I hired one it was £55.

I haven't bought any suits from there but if I wanted another one I would seriously give Matalan a look in. I've got two from Slater's in Manchester but sometimes I don't want to wear them in case some idiot spills a drink on them.
Also - designer-labelled suit? Sorry, but if you can see labels on a suit (or a dress, for that matter), it does flag the wearer up as a tad Neo-Georgian-suburb.

I used to work as a buyer, they use the same 'work houses' as some of the more 'refind' outlets.
