Moving to Hereford/ BMW Specialist/ Car Meets/ Z4M Owner
Discussion
Hi everyone, I was hoping that people on this subsection of the forum would be able to help me with a few things?
In the new year, my folks and I will be moving to a village, that is just outside of Hereford. Because we're moving from Oxford, we don't actually have any family members living in the Hereford area, so I am totally clueless about where to go for absolutely everything and what the car scene if like.
I currently own an E85 Z4M, which I am just having a huge amount of work done, so it's in great shape ready for the move in January. Oxford city centre is not known as a car friendly/welcoming area of the country, but what it does have is a large number of wealthy people, who all seem to own BMW's, so it was easy to find a quality BMW independent garage. Please could people tell me where is the best place to go with my Z4MR, when it's time for MOT/Servicing? Until I was able to find the current specialist I use, I've had a lot of negative experiences with the garages here and if it was not for my car club buddies/mechanics looking out for me, I would have ended up rewarding dishonest or poor workmanship, which doesn't sit right with me.
Jeremy Clarkson once said in a Top Gear video that Oxford is the car hating capital of the world and honestly, it really does feel like that in the city centre (the episode where he says it, is the one where they make that square shaped electric vehicle). I've been lucky that in the area of Oxford I live in, is a local car club, that has grown in recent years thanks to Facebook etc. With so few areas in Oxford (outside the city centre) that you could get away with holding a car meet, it's made it really easy for me to get to them. Because Hereford and the surrounding areas are totally unknown to me, I am really hoping there is a good car community there and that regular meets happen throughout most of the year.
The area of Hereford we're moving to, is a small village called Kingsthorne, which is only a few miles from Hereford city centre. As I am utterly clueless with the area, I was hoping there are some good driving roads, where I am able to drive "spiritedly" and not have to deal with a speed camera every few miles. So knowing this is a bit of an longshot, I was hoping some members would be up for meeting up and teach me some great driving routes in the area?
Cheers,
Felix
