Early Audi tt Good investment?
Discussion
As above. Thinking of buying an early 225 bhp coupe to garage for a few years. Car in looking at has 110k ish miles on & priced around 1.5k.
I know the pixels go on the instruments but what else should i look for and is this too high mileage for putting away?
Car looks good and had low owners & reasonable history.

I just got rid of a roadster, I think in time the mk1 will rise in value as they are worthless at the minute.
Many are being broken for bits as they are worth so little complete
A nice original unmolested car with good history would be a good buy imo
They are not the last word in reliability however

No. They're good cars and if you want one, buy it and use it but forget about appreciation. They sold over 40000 of them in the UK alone and the majority of them are ulez/caz compliant. You're waiting for an asteroid, zombie apocalypse or god/satan bust up to deplete numbers enough for yours to worth substantially more than you paid for it.
I get the impression a TT isn't a car that you actually want you are wondering if a 1500quid one will make you some money...
The short answer is no it won't be worth a significant amount in a few years . If you have to pay a penny for storage, keep the car insured, taxed an MOT'd the numbers don't stack up.
A mk1 TT was a nice bit of design but it's never going to go up in value the way a UR Quattro has.

Or hasn't. You can get a decent urQuattro for about £35,000. If you do the sums it cost, when new, the equivalent of about £70,000. And then you have to keep the damn thing in good fettle on top of that. I don't think they stack up that well financially. The short answer is no it won't be worth a significant amount in a few years . I bought one last year, not as an investment but thought I just can't loose any money on it as they are a bargain at the moment. Thought I can keep it in my garage for some fun now and again.
Had been looking out for a nice 3.2 and I usually like low mileage unmolested cars but went completely off the rails with this one. Its a 2004 3.2 VR6 Quattro modified with Air lift performance suspension, Tarox 10 pot front brakes etc..etc.. not usually one for heavily modified cars but been really pleased with it.

A 110k miles car is never going to be collectible or valuable especially a massively mass produced car.
uK made 40,000 of them the Fiat Coupe made 4,000 ish units and that’s not really seen any significant change in value.
Buy a car if you like it don’t buy one on the hope of any value increase. Enjoy it job done.

.
72000 Fiat coupes made in total ,not a rare car ..
Audi TT global sales apparently well well over half a million
One of my neighbours has one, it was a present from her husband shortly before he passed away and she hasn’t used it since. It can’t have more than 1000 miles on it, the kicker is it’s bright pink, from the factory I think!
It’s practically a barn find car now as it hasn’t been started, moved in 10+ years.

Exactly like this......

I paid £7500 for mine, albeit a long time ago.RobbyJ said:

She will never let go and I’d wager if there are any kids they too will keep it. It’s practically a barn find car now as it hasn’t been started, moved in 10+ years.
