The larini is fitted!
Discussion
Morning all...
Yup, fitted the Larini back box on Saturday to my '53 plate 111S.
Of the 3 crucial bolts, 1 came off, 1 rounded off, 1 sheared off. Ah well, always to be expected! Still, once we got that done and the exhaust was on, it was a simple case of making it look right (i.e. have the tailpipes central etc) and then starting up the (now) beast.
What a great sound
The exhaust's note is still changing slightly I think - I've only done 100 or so miles and it does seem to be settling as it goes through heat cycles.
My initial impression...fantastic!! I actually think it's of similar (or maybe quieter) volume of the std exhaust - but that's not the point, it's the TYPE of noise it makes. Raspy, and beautiful!
I took some videos of before (i.e. std), and will do an after one hopefully this week. I also did a time-lapse video of the whole fitting procedure (was playing with new video camera
) which I'll get hosted as well - should it be of interest, of course!!
Also, the noise from behind the car is SOOOOOOO much better than in it. Got my bro to hoon the car past me with the new exhaust on, and it sounds exactly how it should (in my opinion, of course).
The tail pipes are, of course, bigger as well which I think do really help the look of the rear (read: nice arse).
I should make a very public thanks also to PHer EmmaP for picking up the exhaust and posting it to me. Great effort very much appreciated!
So, the conclusion...if you're thinking about getting a Larini...don't hold back...it's WELL worth it!
Thanks all
Tony
New exhaust....
(sorry for the rubbish slanted pic, it was late last night and I was absolutely nackered and so just took a couple of pictures while the car was clean. Will do some 'proper' ones soon!)
