Immobiliser Problems - help please
Discussion
Aaaaaarrrrrgh!
We need some help please guys…
Headed off to Rockingham early this morning, filled up at the BP garage about 3miles from the track and we couldn’t re-start the car!
The immobiliser won’t switch off so the fuel pump won’t prime – hence we can’t start the engine… I stood around trying to look useful :scratchchin: while Paul changed fuses, relays and all sorts of combinations of arming/disarming the alarm – all to no avail.
The doors lock and unlock OK but the immobiliser light doesn’t stay on when you disarm the alarm or when you put the fob in. It's 1997 Griff 500 with a META 99 alarm system.
It was all a bit odd today – the speedo wasn’t working properly when we set off. Nothing registering to begin with and then it came on intermittently. After about 15miles it kicked in OK but when I put the wipers on, they only went half way and I had to get out and help them back across the windscreen (we were stationary by this stage I should point out – nice trick if I could do that while going along!)
Eventually got bought home on a low-loader again, changed cars and went back to Rockingham in the Skoda! :boxedin:
Since getting home, we’ve tried the normal routine of switching the alarm off but the immobiliser still won’t disengage. Paul’s also disconnected/reconnected the battery, but still no joy.
Any ideas anyone? It’s really urgent to get it fixed as it’s my daily run-about and I can’t get to work without it – NIGHTMARE. What else can go wrong? There’s not much left on the car to change!!
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions…

My immob unit in the Chim packed up a couple of months ago (Meta 99T system as well), Offords managed to remove and by-pass it somehow for me so I could drive it and I then took it down to Hampshire to see Carl (www.tvruk.tv) - He may be able to talk you through the removal procedure on the phone
He specialises in TVRs, in particular the Meta units and is one of the few alarm fitters with the correct software needed to re-program the unit. Thoroughly recommended, works from home and is extremely hospitable and friendly....

You can actuall open the alarm unit in teh engine bay, well I have in the past. As it gets a lot of ater over it being in that sheltered postion
the pcb on mine was looking a lil rusty so I gave it a good blast with WD40 to clean it up(dont rub it though).
David beer might know how to bypass it.
Must admit it sounds like something else is not right if the Speedo etc isnt working. EARTH problem prehaps?
