Idle tick over speed

Hi,
i picked up a second hand S2 111S last weekend and had to do some travailing to go and get it, any way my car doesn't like ticking over and sometime it stalls its as if the tick over is set to low so i had a look at the car and see the screw in the picture below and give it a slight turn which has sorted out the problem but was it the correct thing to do as i have read posts about the throttle position sensor and so on so i just want to check.
