I would like to get into racing via the 750MC stock hatch and am looking at my options for cars.

I had thought of running a VW lupo 1.4 16v but know as i've a veritable VW nut i might be slightly blinkered so came on her for advice.

As a first car; I would go for the Ford Fiesta XR2 Mk2

as my name suggests i compete in the stock hatches with a 106 rallye, this along with the saxo are generally considered the best cars, mainly because they are relatively new. however if you are prepared to spend enough money you can probably get any eligible car competitive.

i would suggest purchasing a secondhand race 205 or xr2 for around a couple of grand, and then see how you go.

if you want to build a competitive car it will probably cost you around £10k.

Best advice is buy a 'budget' car thats all ready to go and has already been used in the series. Give it a go and see if you enjoy it... If you like it then go for a quicker car in year 2.

I compete in stock hatch in Rallycross, my last car was a 750mc 205 gti stockhatch that we converted for Rallycross. Lots of fun, not too much £££ !
