Good road brake pads for the wet? (Rim)

Afternoon all,

The front and rear pads on the roadie are dead and I need new ones.

My riding takes in some steep descents and what with winter being here it’s a bit wet!

Can anyone recommend any rim pads rather than me picking and testing.

Depends on whether your wheels have an aluminium or carbon braking surface..?

I’ve recently fitted a set of Swiss Stop Flash pro pads which I’m using on Corima carbon rims with Ultegra calipers, and they are superb, even in the rain.

Try Fibrax pads

They’re designed and made in Wales so should be good in the wet.

I’ve tried a fair few pads on my commuter over the last few years and have to say I’ve been most happy with Koolstop Salmon.

Half the price of Swissstop too.

Always found the Shimano items decent enough on metal rims.

On carbon I was using Mavics (rebranded Swisstops) which were also decent enough. So I imagine swisstops in general would be good on carbon.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Koolstop are £9 per pair and the Swissstop are £18 for two pairs.

Last time I bought some Swisstop they were £30 from my LBS.

Salmon koolstops. Make Shimano seem unsafe to use (which they nearly are they're so st).

Another vote for Koolstop Salmon. Also don't pick up aluminium from the rims which then causes the rim braking surfaces to wear faster.
