I popped into my local AR today to look at some used Giulia Veloce.

Beautiful cars - especially in the Misano Blue. I must admit I was disappointed by the standard interior- lots of plastic and doesn’t make it feel special at all; this includes the top of the dash, the plastic in the centre console, the gear lever and the door trims. One car had the extended leather with carbon fire trim and the dark roof lining and it felt so much nicer and up market. I was also disappointed by the standard sound system by the HK upgrade is a significant improvement.

How are people finding that the interiors are wearing because some looked very tatty for 17plate cars?

Thing is it’s basically a station car and general runaround so I don’t want to spend more than 25k. Is it likely that I’ll find one with the leather/better plastics and HK upgrade or am I being to ambitious?

Cheers

I’m on 15 k miles! Interior as good as new and no rattles.

Sure some plastics feel cheap and the infotainment is basic but the cabin ambience is great and mine has no wear to seats or plastics.

Goes back in December and tempted to buy another Veloce, I think it’s the pick of the range.

30k on mine its not really showing any signs of wear at all. Occasional rattle from a door speaker.

Honestly if all you are worried about is interior quality and sound system perhaps a Veloce would be wrong for you, those are they only two areas where the Alfa isn't best in class.... IMO!

My Veloce came with the HK system and it's very good. Interior is really good and even though I'm on less than 10k miles it's wearing well.

Plastics are poor but nothing has fallen off in 16k miles. The passenger seat on mine vibrates against the transmission tunnel on cold mornings but disappears once there is some temperature in the cabin (or someone is sitting on it).

Exterior quality is more of a concern - 2 wheels are showing signs of corrosion (no damage to them whatsoever as the car is extremely well looked after), the bootlid badge is delaminating and the fuel flap has warped badly - that's the second one fitted under warranty.

The Veloce is a good drive but I can't see me having another one.

Having driven an array of company cars (mostly BMW/VAG stuff) for the last fifteen years, I've just started a new job at a place that only offers car allowance.

Having spent hours (and hours and hours etc.) poring over the options available and test driving numerous motors now I'm able to pick what I want without the restrictions of a company list I've decided the Veloce is the only thing I really want.

I'll be getting a lump sum settlement from my previous employer very soon and have gone to Carwow and got a decent offer on one that stacks up ok for me.

But on the very slim chance that anyone here has one in Misano blue that's due to go back/for sale imminently I'd be more than happy to discuss a deal!

Cheers.

I'm looking at the Giulia Veloce as well and agree, the extended leather pack is almost essential and luckily it includes the HK upgrade. The Veloce Ti gets leather dash and a few more cosmetic bits as standard. Have to say I was quite impressed by the interior on the Ti that I test drove, but then I'm coming from an older car so no idea what its contemporaries are like

Veloce TI owner here.

I'd say it was a fairly 'average' experience from mine in 13k miles. Overall its a really nice place to be and it feels very much as good as the German equivalents. However, I have had a few issues:

The drivers side trim panel on the A-pillar is peeling away.
I am seeing some wear appearing already on the drivers bolster from getting in and out. It feels pretty low and the B pillar is quite far forward to getting in and out take a bit of a heave... I think this is causing some issues and wearing out the bolster quicker than I've seen on other cars. Its also the red leather, so I think it shows creases/scuffs a lot more as well.

I'm surprised at the love for the interior. It just scraped by as acceptable to me when I ordered mine 20 months ago (the drive & relative rarity of the car made up for that along with the terrible infotainment etc), but the 3/4 series, A4 & C Klasse are all better places to sit - the newest versions of these that have been launched or updated since I got my Veloce are utterly light years ahead of the Alfa now in my opinion.

I've got a 2018 Veloce, due to go back in Feb 2020.
I've done 21,000 miles in it and the interior is still in absolutely mint condition, although i'm probably a bit more cautious than most when getting in/out of the drivers seat bolster.

I do agree the infotainment is becoming a little dated, when i got the car, the interior felt a lot nicer place to be than the equivalent Jag/Bmw/Merc offerings, but i guess that's just personal preference.

I have driven the Giulia, never really saw the issue with the interior. The centre tunnel and auto gear stick were distinctly average but nothing that would concern me.

The way the Giulia drives/makes you feel is just another level, far far outweights the occasionally average bit of trim.

If it really bothers you, Alfa are updating the trim in the upcoming 'refresh', I bet some of that trim will bolt straight onto the first variant of the car. Again, wouldn't bother me though....I am still holding out for a Quad.

I've taken the plunge and bought (well, PCP'd) my Veloce. Got a call with the dealer later to arrange collection etc. and I couldn't be more excited.

Recent car history:

BMW 320d Coupe
VolvoV60
BMW 320d SE Saloon
Audi A3 1.6d (Company provided hire car that I've been stuck with for a year!)

I looked at potentially getting the following:

BMW 420i convertible, Audi S5, Audi A7 S Line, VW Arteon amongst others. Nothing put a smile on my face like the Veloce. The first dealer I went to pushed me into testing the 2.2 Diesel and I found it flat and boring. Pretty much the same as everything else I've had. I got into a Veloce and was immediately engaged by the drive. The I twisted that dial to "Dynamic" and despite that drive being three weeks ago my face is still aching from the enormous grin that appeared when I gave the throttle a tickle.

I've not driven the Quad but that must be utterly insane! It's a bit of a shame that I'm buying just before the interior and infotainment refresh but I can live with that. No doubt it's one of the reasons I got a good deal. As long as I can run Android Auto (I know I can) that's fine by me anyway.

I can't wait to get behind the wheel!

I’m in the market for a veloce in around March when my current lease expires (Audi TTS, wonderful experience for the last 2 years)
What’s the refresh - just interior and infotainment? And when is it likely to hit the showrooms?

According to what I've read that's about it, yes. I believe there's a bigger mid-cycle refresh planned for 2021.

So I managed to test drive one yesterday and the interior was much better that’s the example I originally saw. The weather wasn’t great so I couldn’t really push the car but I have to say I was very disappointed with the performance and sound. It felt very underpowered and lacked oomph. I did a back to back with a 7.5 Golf GTi which I walked away from with a huge grin. Totally shocked by this tbh but the golf made me feel a bit cheeky, younger and took me back to the days when I bought my first car - a Mk 2 Golf.

Did you flick the switch over to “dynamic”?

Makes a big difference I’d say. Regarding how quick it is, i’d say it’s barely any slower than my Cayman in real world driving.

I more than kept up with a Golf R in a straight line in my Veloce, so there must have been something stuck under the pedal! :-)

Stock veloces have dyno'd at around 310bhp and the 0-62 time quoted by Alfa is a little safe. Should easily do it in 5.2-3 seconds and hold its own vs a golf r.

I've just done 12000 in mine and generally the leather, seats and plastics are in good condition. Much more so than my old A6 which had a some decent wear on the seat bolsters after the same number of miles.

I'm not sure if it's just that I'm bored with the care but I'm looking forward to handing it back in Feb.
