68 Plate Golf - Rear Inner Door Seals Wear
Discussion
I have a 68 plate Golf 2.0 Diesel GT with only 9'500 miles on the clock.
I have noticed that both rear door seals at the top of the window are showing signs of wear already.
The felt strip has "bald" patches especially where the quarter window pillar meets the main window.
I am pretty obsessive when it comes to car care and this is bugging me on a 12 month old car.
There is no sign of water ingress and the front doors are fine.
Would/should this be covered under the VW Warranty which still has 2 years left ?
The next service is not due for another 10'000 miles so I am not scheduled to visit the dealer for another 10 months or so.
Would you wait until then and get the dealer view ?
All comments appreciated.

I have photos of the wear but the dealer is in St.Albans.
I live in Derby.
That's a 200 mile round trip.
It's not affecting the car as such and you can't see it until you open the doors.
Think I'll leave it until the next service as it will still be under warranty.
No doubt VW will try the - sorry mate it's wear and tear.

Just back from the main dealer.
There are no leaks and the felt strips on the rear doors are there to suppress wind noise and absorb any water that does get through, which then drains out of the door.
The rubber seals on the inside of the car are what actually stops water ingress into the vehicle.
They basically pressure washed the car and no water went inside.
Whilst waiting I checked the doors of a showroom Passat which had much more protection but it was a 40k car.
Dealer very courteous and showed me around the car saying all was good and as expected,
