Samsung ‘The Frame’
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking for some advice RE the ‘Frame’ TV from Samsung (QE55LS03RAUXXU)
Not really looking to debate the merits of the novelty aspect (I.e. the frame concept) but really looking to know how good of a TV it actually is?
It’s to be mounted opposite a kitchen island so will only really be watched whilst preparing food/kitchen gossip time. Sound to be routed through a Sonos amp with ceiling speakers.
Are there any known downsides to this TV? Just want to make sure before spending £1500 to find out the TV behind the concept is terrible.
Thanks in advance

Thank you both. Both helpful posts - off out tomorrow to purchase.
Many thanks indeed
It's worth checking out the deals available buying from Samsung directly : when I bought mine they threw in an AKG VL3 Bluetooth speaker FOC. I was fortunate enough to get a discount with BlueLightCard too (mentioned on the off chance you qualify for that) Many thanks indeed
Thanks again all - some super useful info there.
I purchased online in the end, unfortunately not eligible for any blue light or equivalent discount schemes, but when comparing to other units, particularly the LG and Panasonic OLED’s (despite the super thin screen) this TV actually overall is the thinnest (the Panasonic and LG having the ‘box of gubbins’ at the lower back of the screen). This is before you factor in mounting either of the OLED’s!
As aesthetics are as important to me as a decent picture it was definitely worth the cost.

Hope it’s not to late, but have you allowed for the Media Box of Gubbins that is separate to the screen in order to keep it so flat?
Also I have a client with one that has a slight ‘screen burn’ issue but it does run 8 hours a day on Sky News and then the ticker-tape banner across the bottom remains for a bit when you switch do a different source.

The TV arrived today and ironically I was thinking of exactly this issue. Also I have a client with one that has a slight ‘screen burn’ issue but it does run 8 hours a day on Sky News and then the ticker-tape banner across the bottom remains for a bit when you switch do a different source.
The one connect box is due to go in a cupboard on the opposite side of the room, so a 15M cable is needed (saves a long HDMI) but have seen a couple of issues with this -
1. The reviews for replacement cables are worryingly bad, mine is to be buried behind walls etc, so failure would be devastating (to my walls at least)... the thought of buying and running a ‘spare’ cable alongside it doesn’t fill me with joy when they are priced at £200!
2. Annoyingly there is no wall mount or even rack mount for the Samsung box - not ideal when the idea is this to to appeal to those who perhaps value aesthetics more than technical in’s and out’s.
I don’t expect it will be used for more than an hour or two per day, so hope we will see longevity from it, I hope we won’t see the same issues as your client. As a precaution perhaps I will hide a flat power point behind the TV and run an HDMI alongside the connect one cable, if I ever revert to a more regular TV setup in this location I will have in place what I need.
All the above aside, it has arrived and it is beautifully presented - a great looking piece in the right setting
Thread resurrection from me thanks . I’m having the 2020 version of this delivered this week and was wondering what others have done with the thin fibre optic cable that connects to it. Not keen to channel the wall but the idea of it just hanging there is a bit off putting . Just wondering what others have done . Thanks
Thanks very much for replying . Mines a s the 43 inch. Wish my wall was plasterboard so it’ll need to be channeled in . I don’t watch a lot of tv and will be working from home for the foreseeable so I’m thinking it’ll give me something different to look at as opposed to a big black rectangle.
I liked the look of it & the frame concept
But i’ve cancelled Sky & now just freeview + apps
So the cable & box are actually a negative downside, as the power socket & aerial are behind the wall Tv location
I like the Samsung interface. I opted for sequivalent non frame for half the price..
