Morning all. In the process of buying a new car and because I’ve moved down to Abu Dhabi I now need to go through the whole rigmarole of exchanging cash in Dubai and trucking it down to Abu Dhabi to be registered.

Couple of questions about this.

Does anyone know of a company that’ll do the transport and the paperwork side of things? Failing that just a transport company that is reliable and preferably a covered truck as it’s my dream car and it’s fairly expensive so want it taking care of.

Pics will follow - just waiting for an al Tayer pre inspection report before the final decision is made.

Open traffic file in Dubai and register it in Dubai?
Ask Al Tayer to arrange Abu Dhabi registration?

Unfortunately can’t register it in Dubai as have Ab Dab visa now. It’s also a private purchase so al Tayer unlikely to be interested I’d say.

Thanks though.

Friends of mine regularly use this guy for moving higher value cars around ... Raj, 0559901180. I believe his flatbed is covered but you’ll need to check with him.

I’m guessing Al Tayer means a move to the prancing horse?

It does indeed Jerry. Considered another McLaren but as exit plans are in place it’s time to scratch that Ferrari itch.

Thanks for the lead. I’ll drop him a line.

If you have a rental contract on a property in Dubai, you can still open a Dubai traffic file and register a car on Dubai plates - even with an Abu Dhabi visa.

You'll need to speak to a 'manager' though and wait around whilst they jump through the required steps on the computer, but perfectly doable.

Cheers Thb that’s the issue I relocated down here a year ago so no more dubai lease for me.

They certainly make life hard in this place!

Fingers crossed that the inspection is OK, just in time to enjoy the nice weather!

Thought I'd update this thread with who I used and how it went. I used carsmiddleast.com and I have to say they were excellent. They picked up the car from Dubai and delivered it to Abu Dhabi. I also used them to register and test the car in Ab Dab and they were invaluable in short circuiting the absolute shambles that is the registering a new car in Abu Dhabi.

Really happy with them and now the proud owner of a Ferrari FF!

Its not hard at all! and not a shambles. Time consuming yes...but my Pakistani recovery driver manages most of it FOC. I can only imagine what CARS would charge for this service (reassuringly expensivesmile

You take the car to Dubai if that is where its registered..you have it tested for export and you can also have a full test undertaken. Once complete, you take the papers to Abu Dhabi (or in deed the car if that is where you live), together with insurance and take a token and a usually very helpful lady behind the counter registers the car..or you can use the self service where a few nice local guys guide you through the process.

WHich FF did you get btw. I am very tempted...

I think my experience was slightly affected by the fact that the only place open on a Saturday is the main 24 hour place.

However now seems no need for a test in Dubai only the paperwork. Down to Abu Dhabi for a test which was all straight forward. Then into the little shack place to get the plates and then prepare to wait. We short cut the process and it still took close on two hours. In any case all sorted now.

I got the black one that I think is still up on Dubizzle for 429. Bloody lovely bit of kit. Couple of minor niggles that’ll start with a wheel alignment.

Awesome. I think there were two. One at the dealer or the private sale? Both are stunning

It’s the one that was up for private sale.
