I hope someone here can advise me. I’ve got a 2009 2.0 TSi that has developed a curious intermittent running issue. It only happens under gentle acceleration and vanishes once the car is properly warmed up. The car feels like it has a fuelling issue and I can only liken it to cars with a incorrectly adjusted choke. I have read that it is an intake flapper not working, but I’ve had a look and it is in place. I’m wondering whether anyone has had a similar experience as apparently it’s quite common, but not common enough for anyone on Scirocco central to reply. Thanks!

The car passed its MOT easily with nothing noted related to either fuelling or emissions, and has done approx 118,000 miles and had fuel filter and spark plugs replaced and it’s service a couple of weeks ago - the issue was there before the service.

Do you know anyone with VCDS or similar that could scan it for faults ?

Have to say it does sound like the variable length intake. If my 2009 2.0 GT was anything to go by they last 40k miles between failures - had got through two by the time I sold it.

On the plus side, other than that and cloil packs the car was faultless over 4 years/50k miles. Great cars.

Thank for your replies. I’ve decided to leave it. The car also needs both rear shock absorbers replaced, every underside rubber component conceivable replaced, and 4 tyres. The bill will be too large to justify on a car that’s worth a couple of grand.
