Hi all,

Need help again...Think I´ve blown my cylinder head gasket.
Does anybody know if the gasket is a special TVR one or a standard Rover part? When it is a Rover part - Which one is it exact?
Is there someting else important to know when changing the gasket?
Does it make sense to do some additional tasks to use the opportunity while the heads are removed?

By the way - Does anyone have experience with the AVO schocks? Is it worth to pay a lot of money for a Nitron suspensin kit or is the AVO solution good enough for normal street use?

Regards
Peter

TVR use a standard Rover gasket, but there are several flavours. Your best bet is to contact a Rover V8 specialist (I recommend RPI, but there are others) to ensure you get the right spec. If the heads have done a high mileage you might consider getting them reconditioned while they are off and just quickly check the state of the bores, otherwise nothing special to do.

As Green said, a recon would be good. De-coke and replace the valve stem oil seals while the valves are out. I guess it goes without saying that you replace the exhaust manifold gasket.

Although if it were mine I would probably not be able to stop myself going down the fully ported and polished route

Unfortunetly the Rover V8 specialists are very rare in Germany - Haven´t found one yet...
I´m going to unfit the heads and give them to an general egine specialist to check them. The right gaskets can hopefully be found with the engine number.
The biggest question is: Why does the gasket got blown? Is there maybe another problem or is it normal...?
