The Capture, BBC1 drama
Discussion
Did anyone see the new BBC drama The Capture last night? Touted as the new Bodyguard, I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s a typically British police drama, dark, moody lit views of London, lots of British character actors you recognise. I’ll stick with it. Saw this Guardian review which amused me. “Pretentious? Moi?” https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com...
Can someone explain how the video of No. 48 was doctored/replaced/edited virtually in real time to mislead the investigator. Was Eaton Square a set on a film lot? Why, if you're MI5, with access to the CCTV system, do you go to all the trouble of making a fake video when you could just turn the camera off and not worry about all the witnesses in the control room etc. I hope there are some credible explanations to come.
I had a theory about how it was done, until I watched that part again.
On the CCTV footage, he walks out of the left side of the frame (to go back to his car?). Then he walks back into frame. At first I thought, supposing it's not him? Supposing it's someone with the same build, wearing the same uniform? But there just isn't time for somebody else to appear, and him not see it as he walks away. Besides which, he said the girl got on the bus, so she must be a switch as well. Again, no time to do it and not be seen - and anyway, where could the two other people come from?
So I'm still baffled! Never mind, I'll watch the second episode later.

On that one, I wondered if the cab actually got there a minute or two earlier (while it was "lost" to the surveillance) and he was inside and doors closed and cab gone by the time the other cops turned up, with the "live" footage actually being a few minutes behind, hence it didn't tally with their view.
I’m probably overthinking it, but the shot where the two incredulous detectives were talking to the female D.I., (think she’s a D.I.), looked like the corner of Eaton Square and Belgrave Place, and the aerial shot of Shaun getting out of the cab, looked like the corner of Eaton Square, and South Eaton Place, but however they did it, it drove my wife nuts, she usually has a reasonable theory by the second episode, but she’s struggling with this one.
I don't know how they did it with the bus but I would imagine that the footage had already been recorded with body doubles. Once they had the soldier they could direct the narrative and send them somewhere where they had already filmed footage. The feed was then switched to the recording for when they were reviewing to lead them on.
