I have a small Mini based Kit Car - a MIDAS. I want to take it Racing and need some Elise type seats with harness slots as it has a lotus style seating position. Hence looking for an after market seat that will fit.

Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.

Try ebay for a set.

I know someone who could do you a good deal on Cobra seats if you’re interested?

Thanks for the replies,

A standard Cobra Seat (which I have several of as I have a small collection of Mini's) will not fit as the seating position required to fit driver, Crash Helmet and seat is such that the ergonomics will not allow it due to the upright seating postion affected by having cobra bucket seats.

The cockpit of a MIDAS is similar in height to a LOTUS hence my request on this site for a roadster style - more reclined - seat source. I have found one at FLUKE racing but at £500 at time it blows my budget wide open.

So if poss I am looking for a roadster style lotus esq seat

Many thanks

Thanks Matt I will contact the LOTUS site you mentioned.

As I have a very bad Mini habit, all the cars I have are race prepped in some way as they alll end up in some level of competiton!!

I use COBRA Monacos as my standard choice. If the seats you mentioned are Carbon Fibre or fibre glass I would be interested for my other fully lightened rally project - spookily its a Mini...

Let me know the detailsd on them.

The MIDAS cockpit is bloomin tight therefore the width of the seat at shoulder height is also an issue. (another reason for standard seats being a problem)

many thanks

You might also want to consider some of the Caterham type seats that they produce. They have CF one's in various styles, shapes etc.

No help at all on the seats mate but there were Minis racing at Castle Combe on Monday and they were absolutely awesome.

Most exciting racing to watch by a mile.

Thanks for all the replies folks,

Have been on the forum long and have already found it more useful than most!

In regards Mini's racing, I have a Mate who races a MIGLIA and go along to watch it is awesome to watch especially with the grid sizes!!

I have had a reply from the site referenced on here and from Caterham.

I just need to make sure I fit in the seat as well as the seat fitting the car - some of them have weight limits!

regards

Brian
