Hello AH,

Great website but it does need updating! Are you still run by Insane Racing?

Apologies - the website has been a victim of being very busy and also some of the uncertainty about the series.

There will be an update along very shortly....

Many thanks Andy; perhaps you could also advise us of other Tuscan drivers.

Hi SF
Castle Combe yesterday was my first ever race. Huge fun, lots to learn and looking forward to getting out there again as soon as possible.

I have set up a website, www.glynnsport.co.uk if you're interested in having a look. It gives an insight into how as a rookie I've tried to prepare for racing, although no amount of testing can you give a sense of what it's like in your first competitive race! There's also a calender of forthcoming events (although please note that Mallory Park is NOT happening)together with some pic's. Hope you like it and thanks for your support for the Tuscan racers.
SG.

Thanks Graham...looking at the different threads here, am I right that whilst you're an experienced racer, this is your first year in a Tuscan Challenge car (AH's previous one perhaps)? If so, hope you've sorted your gear box issues and are ready for Knockhill. Good luck to you too and hope to see at a TVRCC Challenge meet.

Yep Thats me, and it is Andy's old motor, although now with a 4ltr RV8 and only 250 BHP.. ( typically after i'd fitted it then tvr sell the ajp's)

The gearbox proved interesting with the new dog box comming without the modified front seal, so it wouldnt fit. We'd have spotted that in 2 seconds if the other box had been next to it but as it was it cost us 2 days messing about!!! still the engine and box are now back in place and hopefully by tonight it will be running and i'll give it a quick blast to make sure it changes gear !!!

unfortunetly as the tuscans never ran the serpentine rv8, the gearbox is too far back to come out on its own so its engine half out to get the gearbox out, and to get the engine to move the oil pump needs to come off arghhh.

Its got to be on a truck for scotland tomorrow am !!!

I got home last night at about 1:30 after working on it...

If you fancy some extra races there is an open invitation to 05 spec challenge cars to any tvrcc meet, and after talking to JR, we can run an rv8 in invitation with the tuscan challenge, so if i can get the other guy interested we might come and play and try see if we can claim any scalps

Im also keen to try and get us all to run together for an event this year.. I was thinking Donny but thats the day after another race you've got. the best bet looks like croft which is a cracking circuit and a double header to boot

I'd love to come out with you guys in an invitation class and equally it'd be great for you to join us too, should help both our grid numbers.

I've been corresponding with Simon but not had confirmation of whether we'd need to make any adjustments to our set up at all, other than running on the '05 tyre spec - maybe you know the answer to that?

Don't think I can make Croft due to prior committments but will see if there's other dates that work. Certainly Nov 19th at Brands is looking good but a long way off.

As long as the car is to 05 regs inc the new harder slicks then thats fine. We'd create a separate class specifically for the Tuscan challenge cars if a few came along, otherwise it would be invitation and we'd overlook the slicks

It would be nice to get us all on the grid together for a race, a nice mixed bag with different speeds but all TVR's It would be a good treat for the fans too

Yeah, know what you mean about the Renault 5, had a little moment with that one at the Esses, when at the apex it suddenly came to an abrupt halt right in front of me and bang on the line I was taking. Presume it had an engine problem, but very nearly lost its back end too! Somehow got through without collecting it, which is just as well as I've no spare bonnet.

As for the Porsche's, which one exactly are you referring to?

Well done on a great days' racing Andy.

Seconded. I reckon it would be best for both series and the fans if the two series ran together. Hopefully next year, eh?

I think if a car is being lapped on the 3rd lap of racing on a 1.85 mile circuit, it probably ought not to be in the same race. No disrespect to those cars or drivers intended - but there was a saloon car race that day they could have been in. They must have been sh1tting bricks to have two Tuscans pass one on either side at God knows what speed

The Porsche I was referring to was the 968, not the 993 that Chris had his qualifying mishap in

I enjoyed the day - and was very pleased given the car hadn't turned a wheel since last September and I'd sat in it once

How did you find racing rather than testing Steve?

The door was off because we had some problems early in the day with a flat battery. We were disconnecting the timing transponder between races to stop any power drain, and that connector lives in the fuel bay. Just before we went out for the race we'd connect the transponder and pop the door back on. There are two fasteners which clamp the fuel bay cover to the top of the door, and these need a screwdriver to fix them.

I think quite a few people thought a door without hinges was a bit odd I always liked the 'they all do that' comment though

Hi again SF.

Not sure what the problem is with you getting into the site, I've just tried myself and it was OK. I'll have it looked at to see if there's a problem. Meantime perhaps you could try again and if you're still getting problems do let me know. Thanks,
Newby
