M2 rear light failure
Discussion
I kept on getting warnings that my rear lindicator was failing - 2018 M2. Took to my local dealer who said that this is a known issue with the rear light cluster that they would replace under warranty. The parts are on global back order and they have no no ETA of when they will arrive. BMW customer services less than useless and had no idea when the parts would arrive!
The dealer has had the car since start of August and say that it is unsafe to drive (fair enough I guess if no rear lights!), but in the meantime I am left driving around in a 3 series estate (upgraded from a Ford Kuga which the hire company gave me originally)!!!
Anyone else got the same issue, know any more info???

Yeah same issue.
Nov 2017 build, registered Jan 2018.
Owned from new, started with rear right a few weeks ago and then rear left had same issue.
Booked in with dealer but not going in until next month as I need a replacement vehicle.
They suggested BMW roadside assistance who came out to my house to look at it. Of course the problem wasn't there at the time and they couldn't do anything although I've heard BMW Roadside have helped a couple of other owners out.
Very frustrating.

I've had a pair of lci lights on order since the middle of July. I was told they were due in mid August but they still haven't arrived...
Wow - mid July!!! No one can give me any ETA, all I am told is that they are back order in Germany. Although they are delivering new cars which I guess must have functioning lights. Is there any point in me pushing for a like for like courtesy car??

I'm not sure you'll get a like for like car as annoying as it is driving around in the 3 series. Is there any point in me pushing for a like for like courtesy car??
However a positive for me is my lights turned up today so hopefully yours will turn up soon!
Both my rear lights where letting in water via the join between the clear and red plastic. Both replaced under warranty straight away. Mine is an early 2017 though so not LCI.
Amazing isn't it that any fault with the rear light cluster now requires a new unit costing hundreds. In the olden days the worst that could happen was you needed a new £1 bulb or maybe clean some corrosion from the bulb holder. But that's progress and if it happens outside warranty it's going to sting.
