Think I saw a Golden Eagle earlier tonight...it was sitting on a grass bank in an opening along a country lane. Strange, I didn't think we had them here :confused:

They are found in Scotland and the very north of England. If you have seen one in Somerset I'd question the strength of your home brew cider.

Nah, I turned around to get another look, and it flew off only to be attacked by a couple of crows!

Is "here" Somerset as in your profile - if so you are correct - you don't have them there! Although they're resident in Scotland and Cumbria.

Elsewhere, it could have strayed from a nearby falconry centre or display - or could have been a buzzard, the RSPB note it as a similar species.

We've seen Buzzard in Kent a number of times recently. By recently I mean earlier this year, around easter, haven't been home in nearly 6 weeks but they're probly still there

Yep, here is Somerset. Definitely not a Buzzard, the thing was furkin' huge! And it had thick feathers down it's legs, which Buzzards don't have...I'm sure I didn't detour to Scotland, but the RSPB's distribution map is pretty clear that's where they live. Hmm!

Saw a program on BBC2 tonight - they were featuring sea eagles in Scotland. Bloody big too, and getting attacked by crows also!
