No....

The real rumour is they plan (with help from Penske) to return to ALMs and then Le Mans

They've provided the engines a few times before:

first a small Turbo for Mclaren-TAG, which was rather popular. The second was a V12 for Arrows, which was very heavy and uncompetitive.

Tey also provided quite a lot of Indy engines in the early 90s.

And race winners with their own car & engine in the 1960's

I think they only won a single GP in their first foray into F1 in the early 1960s. The most successful period was the mid 1980s with McLaren, providing World Championships for both Alain Prost and Nikki Lauda.

No. Porsche can't even justify building a GT1 car, so the chances of them wasting money on something as worthless to them as F1 are slimmer than Victoria Beckham...

Can't see Porsche ever getting into F1 again, Sportcars are much more their thing.

The only manufactuer left with the financial clout to come into F1 in terms of engine supply would be VAG, but they've repeatedly said they aren't interested.

Of course GM could do it as well, even with their current financial problems, and as they are determined to push Cadillac as a world wide premium brand, a Caddy badged F1 engine supply would do wonders for that, especially if it started winning against MB and BMW. But GM being american they aren't interested in F1 and so it's never going to happen.

Dan Gurney in the French GP in 1962 (Rouen, IIRC).

Dan also claims to have inspired Colin Chapman's choice of laid-down driving position, when Colin saw him trying to get a decent driving position (in a Lotus 19??) by sliding way down and forward in the seat, as Dan was, and still is, a damn tall chap.

Yep, it certainly was. Although you could argue that it was an Arrows, just badged in deference to their sponsor of the time.

What a waste of Michele Alboreto's (RIP) talent...

Roger Penske has been thinking about a move backinto Grand Prix for some time. There iscurrently company restructure going on and the only shop not affected is Poole in Dorset! They currently work on IRL r&d and engines.
