The New Angel, Dartmouth.

Having a week in Dartmouth in August, intend to stay in the town all week and relax, eat & drink as much as I want to all day and not worry about driving.

So, has anyone been to this John Burton Race place yet? might take it in for a meal or two. Is it any good?

My Dad lunches there every couple of months & likes it. Not cheap (but nothing is in Dartmouth) but good

Pete Gorton is a very good friend of mine, he set up the 'Carved Angel' restaurants. The one in Dartmouth he set up with John until it went a bit sour hence John's 'New Angel' theme.

Believe me Pete was the talent, a genuinely great bloke.

Wont be there in Regatta week, parking not a problem though as rented a place on South Embankment with its own proper parking. Thanks for the replies folks.

been there a few times...cracking place, quite relaxed and friendly.

Another place you could try if you're in the area is Gidleigh Park (www.gidleigh.com/ ) - again fantastic food and wonderful hotel and surroundings worth a trip inland a bit

I ate in there on saturday night, very enjoyable.
The food was excellent, service fine, very friendly.
I'd go again.
