2012 Audi TT - service reset

My partner's Audi TT has come up with a service due indicator, but it was only serviced in Dec 2018. From the 'countdown' of days it's clear that it's counting down from a service almost 2 years ago in August 2017, and wasnt reset at the 2018 service.

The Audi dealer is 1.5 hours from where we now live - can any garage with decent software reset the long service indicator, or does it need to be VCDS / Audi-VW software?

I have a 2011A5 which had a similar issue. You can reset the oil change using MMI as I’m sure you know but the service reset needs VAGCOM afaik.

Mate of mine has VAGCOM & sorted it in less than 5 minutes
