Split charge problem
Discussion
My o/h has recently bought an immaculate '68 early bay window VW camper. And a very cool thing it is too in Kansas (aka "hearing aid" biege)
However when the fridge (a portable Waeco CDF18) wasn't working the other day I traced the fault to a blown fuse in the Hella split charge relay...one of these...

But it kept blowing fuses when the engine was started, until I actually disconnected the leisure battery. After that, the output from the relay was 12v and no blown fuse.
If the leisure battery was really low, 7.8V, would this put too much load on the relay and pop the fuse? I've taken the battery off and it seems to be holding a charge, so it's entirely possible that it had already blown when we bought the bus, and we've just slowly run the leisure battery right down off the fridge, as we've only used it a few times.
Or am I likely to have another issue? I checked all the wiring and it looks/tests OK...
