I bought the same book about 6 months ago, very enjoyable, but take your time reading it as it could easily be read in one sitting.
There is an interview with the author on Hodinkee.

On to a more positive reply. What's it like? Good pics?

I bought a book 1001 Watches with the intention of reading the history etc but every time I sit down with it, I just end up looking at the pics.
