The one I have had the best success with is:

www.shell-geostar.com

Alternatively try www.mapquest.co.uk although its not really as good IMHO.

Multimap is ok but only gives maps not routes, and the aa only gets you to the town your going to. I'm after a sort of online autoroute express.

Wrong...! Click on the directions tab, or follow this - it even uses the postcode to verify the address, as you initially asked for!

The problem I found with multimap is that it uses road names (e.g. "...after 2 miles, turn left into Church Lane..." not very helpful if you only see the sign 10 feet before the turning!).
