Engine light on

Alright all, I've got what I hope is a small problem with the tts, it's a 10 plate. The engine light has come on, the car drives fine but when sitting at tick over the revs rise up and down, she ticks over at 800 revs for 2-3 seconds then rises up to 1200 revs for a couple of seconds, then the whole thing is repeated, anyone know the cause?

You need a code reader really. You can find someone local or buy one on eBay for a few quid and read it yourself.
