Just seen this on reddit. Didn’t seem like they announced it that well though?
Anyway £800 to get your place in line!

They emailed the info this morning. It's worth subscribing if you're interested, they sent photos of the production car early as well (saw the email before it was anywhere else). AnotherClarkey said:
Yes, if the price and range estimates are confirmed then they will have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
A shame.
For a city based car I think the range is likely to be OK. But you are right, the price has to be consumate with the size of car and the range. I mean, its no good if you can get something like a Kona EV (which is actually quite a small vehicle when you get up close so equally happy at city dwelling I imagine) for the same or less that also happens to have double the range. A shame.
You'd have to really really want the cute looks.
I'm not really sure if I buy the whole idea of limited range being acceptable for a 'city car'. The whole city car concept seems squeezed into an infinitesimal niche between public transport, car sharing schemes and 'proper' cars. I just don't think people want such a restricted vehicle otherwise things like the Twizy, iMievs, E-Up!s and Electric Smart would have been flying off the shelves.
Even the most humble ICE city cars can take off for a weekend adventure (I expect that is the reason many city dwellers buy them in the first place).
No matter how pleasant the design of the Honda I just couldn't justify that amount of money on something with that restricted capability - especially when things like the Zoe and e208 offer more for less.

City car outside of UK is a very different thing - in the US the need of being able to drive a few miles where there's no public transit is very real, yet not everyone wants a car because of street parking, shortage of space, so schemes like Car2Go are very popular.
Not sure that's conducive with a luxury 'hot hatch' though - they just use cheap smart cars for that.

How much will it cost?
As Honda keep saying it will possibly be placed at the top of their range, you would be looking at £35K plus.....a ludicrous amount of money for a small HondaElon must be wetting himself.
TG Mag have just put a little news bite out about this thing, they're saying expect to pay between £25k and £30k. Still not amazing but perhaps not as worrying as 35!
Still the range is decidedly "last gen". I am not even sure its size is an excuse because the Kona EV isnt exactly as large as it looks in the photos and that's got a whopping battery/range.
How will this compare to the e208/eCorsa? These are apparently also soon be "pre-order" status. - ETA: e208 is supposed to pack a 50kWh pack (well packs as I think its split up and stuffed anywhere there is space) and 200+ range. I mean, that is Honda's competition right there and its already ahead and likely cheaper.

An Irish dealer just told me that he expected high to late 30s in € so would expect late 20s in the UK (I know the exchange rate is not that far away but new cars are stupid money here). They have asked for a €5000 deposit though so.........hmmmmmm.
I know it is a lot but its love at first sight.

Went into my local dealer who was friendly enough but knew absolutely nothing.... Gave me a concept brochure and said I'd get info off the website..... Same as the Pug dealership ..... With manufactures starting to sell directly online you gotta wonder what these 'salesmen' are doing (cause they weren't trying to get me to put a deposit down).
If the Honda is late 20's and offers nothing more than what I've got in my i3 I'll stay with BMW thanks. It annoys me as I'd be up for a change but either demand outstrips supply or dealerships are doing their best to close down.

Regarding the comments about the high price and small range - Honda are trying to do an Apple here. In other words, it's less about tech specs and more about luxury and experience.
Things like the door cameras, all the panoramic screens and stuff like that.
I think it could do well. It's a small premium BEV with some cool technology and a retro flavour. It has emotional appeal. It's in a class of one at the moment. But firstly, it will take some time for people to come round to it, and secondly, Honda UK and their dealers have a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so I fully expect them to screw up the whole thing.
I would actually buy one at 25k if they did a self-charging hybrid version. But I am sure they won't.
