Noticed the other week that my clutch pedal is behaving oddly and was hoping someone here might know what's the prob.

When I release the clutch under braking it seems to stick at the very top of it's travel then release and knock the sole of my foot as I'm stepping off it, all happens in a split second and it's probably only moving 10mm or so. Is the clutch on the way out? Does the hydraulic fluid need replacing? BTW it's a 1999 996 C2 with 30k miles on it. Also am going to get the brake fluid replaced soon.

Cheers

I had something similar on my 993, turned out to be the clutch slave cylinder.

Thanks, if it was such a thing does anyone think it would be under warranty? I bought it used from an OPC about 5 months ago and they include a full on warranty as part of the deal. (will look tonight at paperwork)

I had a similar thing on my 3.2 Carrera so the mechanic lubricated it and cleaned the lines up and it now works much better. A smoother and easier operation all round, although it can still occasionally stick a little, but nowhere near as often or as badly.

If it isn't the clutch itself there's a good chance it would be covered, although as ever, the small print may exclude things like perished seals etc.

I reckon the large exclamation mark that lights up along with other major warning lights should be a '£' sign though. (Or maybe a Euro symbol).
