Hey, is anyone thinking about heading down to the F1 test days at silverstone next week?

I read on planet-f1.com a while back that they might be poorly attended by the teams (went to the last one and there was only Jordan and Williams in attendance), but that might of just been a dirty rumour. If anyone is thinking of going, or has any rumours concerning who's going to be there that would be great.

Its my reading week before exams next week, so what better to motivate me than F1 cars!!

Everybody bar Minardi should be there. It's the last Silverstone test before the British GP, and the only time Ferrari test in the UK all year. Well worth going, and the added chance that a couple of team could be running V8 test hacks for next year. BAR and McLaren both have cars that have run fitted with 2006-spec V8's

wow! thats great. does anyone know which teams are there on which days. have got wednesday off myself for testing at mallory park in morning so may pop there after. although would like to see Ferrari practice. forgive my ignorance but does this mean the actual drivers will be there or do they use the reserve / test drivers for test days. would be good to see schuey hooning about.
is there likely to be loads of people there too and can we sit in the grand stands. sorry for all the questions. trying to persuade my gf and the more positive things i tell her the more likely it is we can go. ! getting excited now.

I went today, unfortunately I couldnt make the morning session (interview), and turned up just in time for their lunch hour. It then proceeded to rain, all afternoon. It was lovely. Unfortunately the teams didnt seem to agree, and barely ran at all. I saw more action at the last one, and there was only two teams at that!!!

If you want to know why theres always a panic when it rains, its because they barely do any testing in the wet!!

Cant they just fit a heater and some wipers on their helmets

Well worth going tomorrow or friday though. High attendence by the teams makes it a must see! Unfortunately im travelling back to bath tomorrow.... Know what id rather being doing!

Most of the action was in the morning - just an occasional light drizzle - but after lunch it just tipped it down ...just lightened off about 1630...and a couple cars came out 20 mins before the end.

Still a great day out hoping for better weather Friday though

Hope for better weather tomorrow. I will be there, setting off from Nottingham at 8.30am so should be there by a reasonable hour!

Should be good fun

I'll be there tomorrow & Friday afternoon. Taking my 5yr old nephew tomorrow - got to make sure he gets the right training from his uncle!

Intending to go tomorrow but heard rumour last night that viewing is restricted to just one corner. Is this true or can action be viewed from anywhere around the circuit?

I believe with "Public" entry (rather than Hospitality) corner viewing is limited to Luffield, Woodcote, Pit Straight and Copse.

I'm going tomorrow - will try to get there in time for the first sessions and then probably leave after lunch...

Don, are you joining up with the Titanic crew at Towcester? If so, may see you there.

I was up there yesterday from 09:00 (the cars were already on track then) till around 1ish. Viewing was from Bridge round to the maggot's complex both infield and round the outside. The main granstands were all open and I manged to sneak into the paddock area - they left the gate open!! - Also manged to get into the Jordan garage and see the chaps there very friendly.

All in very good day, very loud lots of laps by the Williams and Mclaren boys (Pedro was on it from the get go) well worth a trip up there.

Looks like the "Farm" viewing area was open today too. Unfortunately i didn't realise until i was leaving. Grr.
Also didn't know the infield was open. How do you get to it, bridge over the startline i assume? Might go again tomorrow in that case.
